Sexual and reproductive health and rights are universal human rights!They are an indivisible part of the broader human rights and development equation. Their particular power resides in the fact that they deal with the most intimate aspects of our identities as individuals and enable human dignity, which is dependent on control of our bodies, desires and aspirations.

Actually I’m more culturally Muslim than religiously but being Muslim is an important part of my identity. As Muslim, I feel it’s important to counter any form of bigotry, be it anti-Semitism, homophobia, racism, etc. These forms of hate share a common denominator of misinformation and intentional fear mongering.

What draws me to family… if I were a psychiatrist, I’d say an enormous amount of unresolved personal material. If I were an anthropologist, I’d say families are at the root of social structures – they shape our identity, our belief systems – and so I find them fascinating. Also, I love the idea that families have narratives that are essentially the family story that is passed along generation to generation – and the rifts start when people question the story.
